Designed in Australia and made from top quality, pure silk

It's interesting to see how their transparency allows the scarves to take on the colour of the garment over which it is worn - eg Trudi's 'in the pink' fitted dress.  The scarves measure approximately 70 cm x 180 cm and have carefully hand-rolled hems.

They are printed on lightweight silk fabric, the silk having been grown by hard-working little silkworms feeding on mulberry leaves, then spun and woven into rolls of silk and printed to my specifications.

The story behind this scarf design

This fashion scarf features subtle colours of the amazing amethystine python, which is native to the tropical regions of North Queensland, Australia, as well as to Papua New Guinea and Indonesia.

The pattern on their bodies is attractive and has a purplish, bluish sheen, hence the reference to the amethyst gemstone.

Pythons are non-venomous and not thought of as a danger to humans, but can eat small animals whole by first constricting and  smothering them with their very strong bodies.

Memorable for me is the awe-inspiring sight of an enormous amethystine python slowly crossing the road one night near Mareeba on the Atherton Tableland, as my granddaughter and I drove around looking for a lost dog. Its head was the size and rectangular shape of a shoebox and I estimated it to be between eight and a half and nine metres in length. That's a lot of snake!

We think that it had come up from its home on a steep riverbank and was looking for a tasty dinner. Later we were told by locals that this majestic and beautiful creature was known to them - perhaps it will become the stuff of legends.

Most snakes shed a layer of skin as they grow, usually a few times each year. It is this skin of a large python, found in my daughter's garden, which I scanned, then worked on with coloured pencils to develop into this attractive and elegant scarf design.
